New chook yard

Our new chook yard measures 75 metres around its perimeter and boy are the chooks pleased or at least they will be once they have pecked the grass down a little so that they can see one another. As you can see Jessica is helping with the grass … although I’m not entirely sure that the chooks are pleased with this!

Our fennel and beetroot are nearly finished and new seedlings are coming on. Green feast peas are podding nicely and the green sprouting broccoli are abundant. Left over Leeks are thinking about flowering and need to be used quickly. This will be my pleasure as baking them in white wine sprinkled with thyme leaves and toasted almonds with fried carrot on the side makes a fabulous evening meal.
